Method facilities showcased at Cluster of Excellence’s first Science Day

News

On Monday, 23 October 2023, the Cluster of Excellence “Microbiomes Drive Planetary Health” held its inaugural Science Day. Gathering at Markhof in Vienna, thirty principal investigators from eight Austrian research institutions spearheaded a day of enlightening presentations on the method facilities comprised within the Cluster.

The Science Day unfolded as a forum that enabled Cluster members to garner a comprehensive overview of available methods and services, early on in their work packages. Each of the nine facilities (several of which are housed within CeMESS) presented an overview of its methods and services, followed by stimulating discussions to foster synergies and cooperation across this multidisciplinary five-year project.

Notably, French filmmaker Marie-Monique Robin was on site, capturing event highlights and interviewing researchers for an upcoming documentary on microbiomes, slated for release on Arte, ZDF, ORF, and RTS. As the Cluster of Excellence embarks on its research mission, these collaborative moments of exchange, vision-sharing, and media engagement are crucial in spotlighting microbiome research for a broader audience.
